Woof Girl

Pour yourself a glass of whisky tonight, cozy up in front of the fire, and lose yourself in the gentle comedy of Wigtown. I love a good curmudgeon, especially a man with so great a knowledge of books. We learn how books on railways are an irresistible lure for most male readers; that book auctions can yield absolute treasure troves while book collections being sold often contain more duds than gems; that Terry Pratchett and PG Wodehouse are all-season bestsellers; that fresh stock always moves the fastest; and this the loveliest: that when women stop reading, the novel will be dead.

Bluestalking

I don’t hand that compliment out often. I don’t throw my laughs around willy-nilly. One of the most entertaining and satisfying works of humorous nonfiction I’ve read in quite a while, I’m struggling to remember what else has made me snort-laugh so hard.
