Performance wise, the FireStick 4K Max is excellent and runs like a charm. Being a Prime member, and using Alexa throughout the house (Echo shows etc), this Firestick 4K Max was a natural choice when considering a device of this type. The media could not be loaded. Hotel Wi-Fi is notoriously bad so just be aware of that.

Really happy with this purchase and highly recommend it to anyone. Overall a great device though and if you do not have a Firestick yet or a very old one, for sure the device to go.

Also I have seen on other posts that’s people have powered the Firestick using a USB cable and a spare USB port on the TV. The device is small, neat, and compact – simply plug into an HDMI port, and connect the USB power (long cable and USB plug included), and you’re ready to go. The screensaver can be shut off, but the device still has some sort of power saving mode that means that if you spend too long getting back to your program, the screen goes black, you need to re-enter the Fire TV system and then enter your streaming app again.

You can though add Sky Go to Fire tablets, which is good, but not as good as being able to have on a TV. We wanted this primarily for watching TV while in the Canaries. Actually not quite – the addition of Sky Go app would make this perfect. Overall, a great device, excellent quality, and value.

This, of course, is an issue with both the apps and Fire TV, but if it couldn't be implemented easily perhaps it shouldn't have been included. I have read that the 4k max has 16GB storage so I'm wondering why my 4k max only has 6GB ? The Firesticks are really handy and capable streaming devices I use across my house and love them. Non-Amazon apps, outside of a few at the beginning of your app list are accessed through a separate screen.

I can’t generally fault the device, or functionality, and only have one slight gripe – which is the same as with my Fire HD tablet – the UI leaves a bit to be desired. So I installed ExpressVPN and set it up while in Spain and now it works perfectly. Voice Alexa control is a bonus, although I already have a Show device in the bedroom this is being used on anyway.

So far done nothing at all.

I purchased this for a perfectly good LG smart TV (in one of the bedrooms) that, as is always the case after a while – in this case around 10 years, no longer has any meaningfully useful apps still working. This is a cost effective way of adding full smart functionality (with knobs on)Being from Amazon, and already having an Amazon account, the device came next day, and already configured for Amazon (Prime etc), as well as home network. If the Wi-Fi is not strong enough or there are times of hi usage then you will get buffering and you can lose connection.
