This book was such a fast, wild ride! And "To Kill A Kingdom" do not have a huge world building, things goes pretty fast and are action packed. A perfectly nuanced, completely contained, joy to read. With 101 kingdoms there is so much more we could explore through his eyes.

I loved Lira, she is wonderful main protagonist. Robbed of her voice, lira has until winter solstice to deliver prince Elian's heart or remain human forever. But one arrogant decision gets her cursed into humanity and there is only one way, that will get her back to the sea and previous glory.

It was. ~ ELAINLira is siren royalty and the most lethal of them all. Mermaids too. Elian sets of on a Jason and the argonauts style quest to rid the 100 kingdoms of the sea witch and her minions.

And then there is Elian, a human prince that is heir of most powerful kingdom, but his true passion is being captain of a deadly crew of siren hunters. Amazing highly recommend It gives off a little mermaid theme but also a lot darker and more mature than the movie .

A little mermaid retelling with Lira taking the role of Ariel and Elian as the Prince. This book was everything I needed in a dark, twisted retelling to fulfil my little mermaid obsession. Also did I mention Sirens and Pirates? Elian is an amazing character, for those of you familiar with Grishaverse, he is of a similar ilk as Sturmhond.

Add to that a hugely absorbing quest for power, an adventure on high seas and some beautifully rounded supporting characters creating a dynamic cast and you have a winner. Elias, Prince, pirate, siren killer, is determined to wipe out the sirens even if it kills him. 5 stars?

I am a fan on retellings, yet I didn't expected much of reimagination of "The Little Mermaid". however i’m disappointed with the quality of the book :/ within a day of reading it the cover of the book started peeling and the gold of the title started rubbing off which is annoying considering i loved the contents of the book.
