I am very happy with this dowl plate, the plate itself is thick enough to with stand the hammering, I have no issues with the holes as they are. I love Lie-nielsen products, but this offers the same precision with more options at a lower price, still being an American built product. That way there would be more meat between the guide holes you drill into the block you build (if you go that route). Good job DFM keep it up, loving your tools1

This does exactly what it says it does. I definitely recommend using some kind of a guide so that the stock remains perpendicular to the plate while pounding it through. The dowel plate isn’t anymore pricey than other well made American tools.

I DO wish the plate was a little bigger so the holes would be a little more spaced out. As is the fit is perfect for the hardwood boxes I build. Luckily I only needed 1” lengths.
