Although my daughter would take milk from these bottles there was no way to control the flow of milk and often during feeds she would cough due to the speed of the milk (I had the slowest size 0 teats). You can buy teats in stages, (size 1) up to 3 months, (size 2) 3 months +, (size 3) 6 months +. On the first feed using this bottle my daughter consumed 6oz, no coughing no spitting it out from the sides of her mouth no excessive wind.
After a few days I become more and more anxious to feed her and would often ask my husband because I was affraid she would choke or that there was something wrong with my bottle feeding technique. I came across the nuk brand which had a very similar design, after reading countless reviews I purchased a set and began to use them. The smaller size is great for newborns and are compact and easy to travel with but as baby grows the larger size is needed. The bottles come in 4oz and 8oz sizes, I have purchased 6 of each.
The ready made feed I gave my daughter had an almost slanted point on teat so I began my search for something that looked like that. Overall these have literally saved my life and I would recommend them to anyway who is struggling to find a bottle that baby will accept! The bottles are super easy to clean as you can take them apart into 4 pieces incredibly easily (unlike a few other brand that have loads of small parts) they also fit in other brand steamers If you do not have the munchkin one- I already had the tomee tipee electric steamer and I can fit 6 of these in there minus the lids. I attended various support groups and saw countless medical professionals for assistance with no real improvement.
My daughter had no difficulty whatsoever latching onto these bottles and as they contain an anti-colic valve the air doesn't go through the milk causing less wind. I have noticed a number of reviews comment on the teat "collapsing" during feeds- this happens only when baby latches hard and once baby releases the teat the air will vent through the bottom of the bottle popping the teat back out (I personally see this as a positive feature as it prevents air consumption). These teats can be purchased seperatly so you don't need to change the whole bottle.
After consultation with my health visitor I decided to express feed but during my initial desperate days I purchased the aptamil ready made bottles (the ones that include teats) which my daughter seemed to kind of get alone with. Desperate again I began my search and came across these complete gems. The design of the bottles is modern, visually appealing and easy to hold. Enough was enough so I then went on to purchase the tomee tipee closer to nature bottles on advice from a friend- again we had the same problem- milk to fast, no control and lots of wind after.
