The storyline and characterisation are both complex but instantly recognisable. I loved this book. I enjoyed the suspense and eerie visitations from the past.

With the added bonus of having the thread of truth woven through from Barbara’s own family tree! This bookhas it all! Another one to add to the collection to revisit.

My world feels bereft without Ruth, Mal, Thomas and Tim! I became totally involved with all the characters.

Thank you Barbara for another epic total escape from reality! As usual with Barbara Erskine it was an exciting read, a fabulous mix of fact and fiction with characters easily brought to life. !
Book Hangover! Highly recommend! A must for these autumnal evenings of creaks and drips! Phew!
Make sure you pull the curtains and lock the doors first! However, it’s worth every second as you are transported through time and space. Although, of course, such worldly security doesn’t always stop a determined Ghost! A roller coaster ride of thriller, horror, crime, history and romance all between 2 covers!
This is a great story spoilt by the fact that there is a large blob of printers ink on Page 243 covering several lines and the fact I cannot just contact Amazon to report the issue, I didn’t want to go to the bother of having to return when I can probably guess the lines. I did treat myself to the Hardback as a birthday present (via a voucher) and must admit it’s a heavy book to hold!
