I bought two pods, I washed the covers first so they was damp took them out and dried inside the washer then tipped half the pod at the bottom, put the cushion covers in and tipped in the rest of the pod 🥰 then done an empty wash to clean the washer My furniture has off-white/cream covers made from 100% cotton which quickly turn mucky thanks to 2 kids. My 3 pillow cases came out perfectly a lovely dark grey.

Colour didn't turn the fronts all grey and the lining of the curtains is quite patchy in places, shades of grey (lol! The overall colour is uniform and any wobbly bits are a result of the poor camera, not the dye. I was quoted over £1500 for new covers for a 3 piece sofa set (armchair and 2 x 2-seater sofas) and instead did it myself for £150. First I ran the hottest wash (cotton, 95*) on my washing machine with detergent and half a cup of bleach to remove any grease and grime buildup inside the machine.

The grey does have a bluesy hue, but that could be the fabric colour before affecting the final outcome. Cannot understand why anyone has a problem with this dye.

If you do it this way the powder is dissolved before it hits the fabric. . Wash the fabric on a 40* wash with detergent (I added some liquid Vanish for good measure) then open the pods and place them in the washing machine under the damp fabric - you can use up to 5 pods at a time. Weigh your dry fabric and use the right amount of pods or you will be disappointed in the colour.

I used 16 pods and 8 cycles to do my sofa covers but they are all the same colour, all evenly dyed and all look great! Easy to use.

The Ercol sofa now looks contemporary and up to date. Good value for £5 at time of purchase and much less scary than watching the Intense Black going around the washing machine. Looking at previous reviews I can only say that the dye either can’t have been used correctly or was used on on the wrong fabric.
