Very relaxing, informative, and actually extremely fun. I often pause while reading to research a particular word or concept and further deeper my love of all things Roman.

Although I haven't finished the book it's been a great read so far! In all seriousness, been a fan of toldinstone for years & hate that it took me this long to finally pickup your book. Great book. 10/10

The footnotes in this book alone are worth the read. It tackles all the questions you never thought to ask and in a way that isn't too academic or dense (although I do love those kinds of books too). Books like this bring any museum alive. A fun and interesting read with a lot of great topics giving insight into the lives of people living in ancient Greece and Rome!

This is exactly the kind of book you want when you're traveling and want to bring something you can get through cover to cover in your downtime. If you like this, you will likely enjoy the work of Vicki Leon, she’s similarly witty and also highly readable. I enjoyed every chapter! It's a brisk and fun read.

Never before wondered if the Ancient Romans wore underwear or if they shaved their nether areas, but this book has enlightened me. Organized nicely with prescient examples of each subject. And while enjoying this book, I learned of his next one and ordered an advance copy.
Great book! I discovered Garrett with his told in stone YouTube channel and soon came to love his videos and sense of humor as he shares tidbits about history. (Like on a plane or at a ryokan in Okutama, Japan). And of course I had to have his book.
