Closed cell joint backing foam also known as backer rod or polycord, is a flexible polyethylene cord. USE Sika Backing Rod is used as a back up material for cold applied Sika sealants to give the sealant the correct thickness. PE Backer Rod, is a closed-cell circular polyethylene cord, that is recommended for use in a joint to provide backing support to sealants and mastics, where a full-depth expansion joint is not required. 412001 It allows the volume of sealant or mastic used to be minimized and reduce overall cost as well as allowing the user to obtain the optimum sealant shape or design, which prevents joint failure.
