Before you start… Visit the Truecable. For this example we are going to terminate Cat 6 standard UTP (Ushielded Twisted Pair). See photo:7) Now… you are committing yourself: Take one last look, wires thru ok?

Klein Tools VDV226-110 Great tool! Blue outer insulation deep enough into the connector? Most of us have done that mistake and by reading the given CableAcademy links you will be spared that mistake !

You should have proper connectivity over all 8 cores, no shorts, and no crossed wires. Trust me! Standard used: 568B, latch on the connector facing away from you. The stripping blade in this is set perfectly so it does not cut into the conductors, rather cleaning scoring the jacket for easy stripping.

There are several types on the Market. com website, It comes from a USA Company (TrueCable Inc. before you start, ensure you have all you need to hand. Some people don't like Pass-Thru crimping, but honestly Pass-Thru is perfect when you're terminating in confined space and need to check your wire order in low light.

If Lady Luck and your hand steadied & aided by that shot of Kentucky Bourbon has smiled on you, your wires are now protruding at the end of the connector, in the correct sequence. If you were only planning to make some patch leads…. terrible tool in your hands, doesnt feel right. If you cannot afford to lose 1” of cable, STOP right now and buy a ready-made lead you will save yrself a TON of misery.
