Lonely Planet's Epic Hikes of the World will inspire a lifetime of adventure on foot. From one-day jaunts and urban trails to month-long thru-hikes, cultural rambles and mountain expeditions, each journey featured is truly epic. Plus, lots of hidden gems, like the lesser-known treks of the Kachin Tribal Village Trek in Myanmar or the Erta Ale in Ethiopia. That’s how we got short walks like the Grand Canyon Rim Trail and long-distance trails like the Camino de Santiago and the Rim of Africa trail on the same map. Sun: 10am-6pm

Many popular hikes are left off the list, possibly intentionally to encourage you to learn about lesser known trails. This book should make a nice gift for someone who loves hiking and traveling. Great book, full of information and nice cover

You are supposed to browse through the photos and read about the trails that interest you, then research the exact hike details elsewhere. Product arrived 4 days early and in excellent condition! None of the trails are really remote, so foreign tourists shouldn't have trouble accessing them.

Since this is primarily an English-speaking company, the majority of the hikes are in North America, Europe, and Australia. There are no trail maps, just photos and text descriptions.

There are only 3 hikes in Africa, 2 in South America, and 9 in Asia. This is not supposed to be the world's 50 most spectacular hikes, but more like the 50 hikes that inspired the Lonely Planet staff the most. This is an interesting collection of 50 hikes from around the world.
