One day as the situation gets worse, Zara is forced to lock up her garden and leave the city. The lovely, lyrical text is superbly matched by Anneli Bray’s rich illustrations.

After some months she returns to her garden to see her plants have still been growing and her garden is still full of life and colour. The tagline on the back of the book describes it perfectly – “A thoughtful story of war, peace and hope. A girl grows a garden in a war zone, but they have to leave.
