Quirky Opinions
But as I started reading, I realized it was really good. I can't explain it, but the story, prose and art fit so well with each other.
The story itself, we've heard before. Really great book. It's quite similar to the Grimm brothers version, meaning it retains it's darkness.
A part of me was hoping that it would have a twist like The Sleeper and the Spindle did, but I'm perfectly happy with it as it is. I got the book after reading The Sleeper and the Spindle and when I got it, I wasn't impressed at first.
The illustrations didn't seem as great, they were really dark. There's a haunting quality ti it and the illustrations suit it very well.
With context, the art is fantastic. The prose by Neil Gaiman is simple and beautiful.
