About this deal

The Little People, Big Dreams books series portrays the inspiring lives of artists, designers, activists and scientists in a super-accessible way with sweet illustrations and by focusing on when they started out as children with a dream. Manchester-born Kevin Cummins has an international reputation as one of the world's leading photographers and is famed for his iconic portraits of musicians including Ian Curtis, Bowie, The Smiths, Iggy Pop, Bjork, Debbie Harry, Bob Marley, Public Enemy, Patti Smith and Oasis. Discover the lives of outstanding people, from designers and artists to scientists. Offer 2: Grab any 2 prints and get the second one at half-price (discount applied automatically). In this original and illuminating book, Professor Brooker approaches Bowie from various angles, re-tracing his childhood on the streets of Bromley, taking us through his record collection and bookshelves, and deciphering the symbols and codes of his final work, Blackstar to piece together how an ordinary suburban teenager turned himself into a legend, and how perhaps we too could be a little more Bowie. He was awarded an honorary doctorate (arts) by Manchester Metropolitan University in 2015.

  • A numbered certificate of authenticity hand-signed by Kevin Cummins.
  • One copy of an exclusive edition of David Bowie: Mixing Memory & Desire, with a foreword by Jeremy Deller, hand-signed by Kevin Cummins.
  • A 7x9" colour print portrait of David Bowie hand-signed by Kevin Cummins.

A must have for any Bowie fan. In terms of structure it's also beautifully made, I, as a photographer and DTP (desktop publisher) I think they did a great job putting all together. Being picky there are a few (very few indeed) manufacturing flaws printing wise, some spots here and there, but as I said very little, still a 5 stars product.

Such a cool book ! There are quite a few essays too, all very interesting and of the same high quality as the rest of the book. I was quite wrong. Not to mention that it's huge and, well, gorgeous!

I'm going to keep it short. Every photo etc is so well reproduced and organised in a quite inventive way. Love it ! I would recommend this book even to the casual Bowie fan without hesitation.
